Historical Publications
Kappa Omicron Nu’s roots are over 100 years old, including the merging of two previous organizations. A large number of scholarly articles and papers have been published over the years under a variety of publications. All publications at the beginning were physical print. As a small non-profit organization, many of those files have been lost in time.
The project of finding and posting historical content is not as simple or obvious as it might seem. Content must be found, identified and organized, scanned to digital, and even then are likely not searchable. After converting them to digital those files must be organized and uploaded online, and someone must pay for their ongoing maintenance. It’s a large project, and there is also the question of who will perform that work.
Our most complete digital records are URJHS, Forum, and Dialogue. All URJHS and Forum articles that we have digitally are now available online through our website. We have Dialogue back to 1994 in electronic records. Dialogue included scholarly articles until 2014, when the publication stopped for several years. Beginning in October 2020 the Dialogue was restarted as a digital newsletter only (no scholarly articles).
Today KON is working hard to restart our scholarly publications. We are publishing current articles on URJHS – the Undergraduate Journal for the Human Sciences. We’d like to follow by revitalizing our publication for graduate students and professionals called Forum. If you have articles to submit please contact us at [email protected].
The process of archiving records is expensive and time-consuming. While we agree on the importance of the work, KON requires focus on operational duties at this time until greater funding for record preservation can be found.
