About Audrey Burkhart

Audrey Burkart was from Ridgefield, NJ. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New York University and a doctorate from Columbia University in Nutrition and Home Economics. She taught at Ridgefield High School and Rutgers University where she became head of the Nutrition and Home Economics Department. She was a Kappa Omicron Nu member from Omicron Beta Alpha Chapter at Rutgers University. The funds were a legacy gift in her will and the KON Board voted to use those funds to support student financial need.

To honor her legacy, this scholarship assists members who would like to accept the invitation to be initiated into Kappa Omicron Nu, but have financial challenges that would prevent payment of the initiation fee.

This opportunity is open to students at any level of education and covers the full amount of the national initiation fee. If there is a chapter initiation fee, this is not covered by this scholarship.
