Such women as Flossie Marian Byrd, Ola G. Hudson, Clinita Arnsby Ford, Eula Davis Masingale, Norma Maiden, as well as other early and current leaders are featured. This book adds to the literature about women’s roles in the human sciences and in educational programs in general. It is a “first” in the human sciences of celebrating the accomplishments of African American Women. Never before has a collection of narratives been this comprehensive. Although it is sure to leave out some significant women, this effort is a proud beginning. It is anticipated that the recognition of African American women will continue in other formats.
