Member Spotlight - July 2011
Jessica Collinsgrove of Crete, Illinois, was selected to carry the departmental flag at Northern Illinois University commencement in DeKalb. Collinsgrove, a 2007 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and daughter of John and Ginger Collinsgrove, was selected as a flag bearer for the College of Health and Human Sciences at the 2011 undergraduate commencement ceremony May 14. Collinsgrove graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Family and Child Studies with an emphasis in Family Social Services.
While attending NIU, she served on the executive board for Kappa Omicron Nu, Omicron Beta Gamma chapter. This is the Family and Consumer Sciences honor society, and she was also named to the dean's list for several semesters. She interned earlier this year at Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center in Oak Forest. Collinsgrove has been accepted to the NIU graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy for Fall 2011. She is one of 12 students chosen for the program and tuition is waived. She will complete the program in two years and would ultimately like to start her own practice.
