Gladys Gary Vaughn

Gladys Gary Vaughn is Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and an officer of the 25-member board of Habitat for Humanity.

Vaughn holds a doctorate in home economics education and administration from the University of Maryland at College Park. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and is the immediate past national president of The Links Incorporated, two of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Vaughn is a past chair of the Kappa Omicron Nu Board of Directors.

"A recognized expert in family and social science, Gladys Gary Vaughn has forged a 30-year career in helping people improve the quality of their lives. "I've always believed in social justice. It is a deeply held belief of mine," she told Contemporary Black Biography (CBB). To that end, she has spoken before Congress and on the talk show Geraldo. She has published scholarly papers, appeared at international seminars, and been quoted in The New York Times. More importantly, her expertise has guided policies and programs that have positively affected thousands throughout the world."*
