Member Spotlight - November 2014

Elizabeth Flores, Vice Chair, University Community Garden, CSULB

Elizabeth FloresElizabeth Flores, active KON member with CSU-Long Beach's Omicron Alpha Psi chapter is in this month's member spotlight for her work with the University's new Community Garden project.

"I was inducted into the Omicron Alpha Psi chapter when I transferred to CSULB the fall of 2013 as an honor student from Los Angeles Harbor College, having graduated with an AS in mathematics and natural science. I became involved with the garden project the spring of 2014 when the founding group reached out to the student body to realize the project. I have been involved ever since. This summer the legalities of the project were finally worked out and the project moved forward full steam! We have been developed as a student run committee under ASI and are sponsored by the College Of Health and Human Services. Dr. Libby Gustin has agreed to be our faculty adviser. I have accepted the position of Vice-Chair serving under or Chair Vince Holguin. Student gardener applications are now available on Beach Sync and we are looking to complete construction before the end of the year!"

Thank you for all you do, Elizabeth! Keep up the great work.
