Member Spotlight - January 2014
Drew Slocum is an undergraduate in the Athletic Training Education Program at California University of Pennsylvania and will graduate in May 2014 with a Summa Cum Laude designation. Drew has served the Nu Omicron Chapter as President-elect and President and has led the chapter in a number of activities: volunteering with local Lion's Club and Library to raise funds, collaborating with nursing students to deliver distance education with a focus on global health and wellbeing to children and young adults in Jamaica, volunteering with Special Olympics, sponsoring Jump with Jill program for elementary students, presenting information about nutrition and health snacks to local daycare families and elementary students, and developing a new program with the Scott's Run Settlement House to assist with their Backpack Program to help school-aged children who face hunger and food insecurity.
Prior to attending Cal U, Drew dedicated 4 years to the US Army as a Fire Support Sergeant. In addition to his leadership with KON, he has represented the Army as a Warrior Leadership graduate and has completed training at the iLead Conference. His undergraduate research focuses on The Effects of Kinesio Taping for Pain Management. Drew plans to further his education in Occupational Therapy.
