Just a note to express appreciation for your participation in the 2005 Kappa Omicron Nu Conclave and Undergraduate Research Conference.

The Board of Directors and the Radisson were terrific hosts for the meeting, and the session facilitators were skilled in carrying out the program theme. Thank you also to the undergraduate research presenters for helping URC to achieve its commitment to creating a national undergraduate research conference for the human sciences and to developing the next generation of scholars.

Our members at the 2003 Conclave identified a priority for learning more about public speaking, so Lisa Wootton Booth helped us respond to that need in our 2005 Conclave. Her presentation will be posted on the Web site for use of members and chapters.

A priority identified by the 2005 Delegate Forum was an interest in understanding Human Sciences—majors and careers—and the Board is already making plans to follow-through. The ideas shared for navigation enhancements on the KON Web site are in process by Brian Booth. We will also be adding a feedback link so that we can respond with individual ideas.

We think that “A Matter of Ethics” offers an opportunity for visibility on campus by collaborating with other student groups. We hope there will be lots of applications for A Matter of Ethics Program Awards.

The Giraffe and Elephant send greetings. Diversity in its many forms is certainly an important part of the Human Sciences culture.

Many thanks for your support.

Dorothy I. Mitstifer, Executive Director

Kappa Omicron Nu - dmitstifer@kon.org

P.S. It should be clarified that the donor for the Undergraduate Research Presentation Awards was the Council of Administrators for Family and Consumer Sciences (CAFCS).
